Canon 550d

So starting with the cheapest.
A perfect starter camera for someone new to shooting on HDSLRs. All the pro video features of the other cameras, but in a cheaper plastic body. You still get full 1080p recording with variable frame rates (24,25 and 29.97) and full manual exposure. The image sensor is almost identical to that in the more expensive 7D so the cheaper camera doesn’t mean worse quality. It features 50p and 60p recording at 1280×720 which means you can shoot some great slow mo footage. It also currently has the highest resolution screen of all the canon cameras.
The Disadvantages? It has a few less pro features as far as stills go (although its still pretty good) and the reduced number of buttons mean operating it is slightly more fiddly in a rush. Also the light body can make any handheld work extra wobbly and it certainly isn’t as rugged or weatherproof as the higher end models. The 550d has no manual control over audio so you have to record separate system audio. Also you can’t dial in an exact white balance on this camera meaning your limited to presets.
Really for the price its pretty hard to fault. A word of warning though, don’t buy this with the intent to use the 18-55mm kit lens it is terrible! (although I was able to sell mine on amazon for a profit!)
